A few days ago on May 5th, 2020, Petricore, Inc. turned five years ago.
You may be wondering, who the heck is this Petricore, I’ve never heard of them!
Petricore is an independent game development startup located in Worcester, Massachusetts, an area which I called home for many years.
The company was founded by Ryan Canuel, who happens to be a great friend of mine from college and the Massachusetts game development community. Over the last five years, they have created several really exciting mobile games such as Mind The Arrow and Gelato Flicker, and worked on 60+ more projects for their clients.
This year, I made a major life move and left Harmonix. I’ve recently taken a part-time contract job with Petricore. As part of my job, I helped the company publicly celebrate five successful years as a company and start to reveal their upcoming game, DogFight, to the larger world.
Part of the celebration activities included announcing / launching the Steam “Coming Soon” page for DogFight (go wishlist it today!) and coordinating a blog to hit Gamasutra sharing some of the lessons learned over the last five years. It’s great to see that a few people even picked up and ran with the story!
Ryan and the entire team at Petricore have been huge inspirations to me personally and professionally. Both as someone working for the studio and as a studio fan/friend, I am beyond psyched to see them reach this amazing five year milestone. I cannot wait to see where they go from here!
Happy birthday, Petricore!
