Nick’s 2020 Gaming Wishlist

2020 is set to be a big year when it comes to gaming with two brand new next-generation consoles launching from Xbox and PlayStation, along with a slew of great new games.

I took some time to discuss what currently announced things I am looking forward to next year and why I’m excited about them!

Xbox Series X and the Next Generation of Gaming

Starting this post off with the Xbox Series X and next-gen gaming in general seems like the right call. After all, 2020 will usher in two brand new consoles from Xbox and PlayStation and I am very much looking forward to picking them up.

As a die-hard Xbox fan and player, my eye is currently set on the Xbox Series X. Even though Microsoft got off on the wrong foot this generation, it seems like they are all-in on whatever their plans for the next-generation Xbox console is.

We’ve already seen some of this through their efforts in the last few years with Xbox Game Pass (an amazing service!), xCloud and Home Console Streaming (something I have been tinkering with), and tons of studio acquisitions to add to their first-party portfolio of games.

I’m all in on Xbox next generation just as much as they are. I’m eager to get my pre-order down on the Xbox Series X and all of the games coming out for it in 2020.

Speaking of games…

Games I’m Looking Forward To In 2020

Halo Infinite (Xbox)

I am a huge fan of Halo, there’s no doubt about that. When Halo Infinite was announced, my excitement for the future of Halo was fueled again.

While very little details about the new Halo game have yet to be revealed, what has been shown so far seems to lean towards 343 Industries leaning towards both servicing all kinds of Halo fans while taking the game in a slightly new direction.

I am already counting the days until Holiday 2020 for when I can get my hands on this game.

Minecraft Dungeons (Xbox)

Minecraft Dungeons is an interesting new title that Mojang is working on. Unlike traditional Minecraft, this game takes the universe and world of Minecraft and turns it into a action-adventure dungeon crawler!

Everything I’ve seen about this game warms me up on the inside and has me excited to give it a shot and play it.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Switch)

It’s been a while since I’ve had to pay my dues to Tom Nook, and in early 2020 I’ll finally be able to jump back into doing so with Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Look, it’s more Animal Crossing but for the Switch. What else can you ask for?

Even if I’m not a huge Switch player, I can see myself sinking some serious time into this title just due to how much I love the Animal Crossing games!

Fast & Furious: Crossroads (Xbox)

Okay, okay, okay. Yes, I know this is a weird one to include, but c’mon! A new Fast & Furious game is coming out! The last time we got a game set in the Fast & Furious universe was way back in 2015 with Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious (which was a great game by the way!).

No matter how good or bad this game ends up being, I will for sure do my best to play it to 100% completion.

Gears Tactics (PC)

I don’t have much to saw on this one as I’m not someone who is usually huge into XCOM style games, but as a fan of the Gears franchise, I know this is a game I must check out.

I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised by this game.

Other Games In 2020

Of course, these few games aren’t all that I’m excited about next year. There’s of course the games that we all do not know about which will likely be fun surprises dropped all throughout the year. There’s also way more currently announced titles that I am looking forward to playing in one way or another next year.

Here are just some of those games 2020:

  • Cook, Serve, Delicious 3 (Xbox, Switch)
  • Dreams (PS4)
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Xbox)
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (Xbox)
  • Marvel’s Avengers (Xbox)
  • Planet Coaster (Xbox)
  • Forza Motorsport 8 (Xbox – well, at least it’s rumored to be a launch title!)
  • Watch Dogs: Legion (Xbox)
  • Gods & Monsters (Xbox)
  • Crossfire X (Xbox)
  • SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated (Xbox, Switch)
  • Psychonauts 2 (Xbox)
  • Destroy All Humans (Xbox)
  • Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (Xbox)
